Festival on the Green: Recap

Category : Events

Thank you everyone for your help and support in making this fun activity such a resounding SUCCESS!

This event was a time to unite with the community and the university in a celebration of food, culture, knowledge, and craft.  Our group was located next to the stage where our volunteers enjoyed the performances of young musicians, belly dancers, karate, and Native American music.  In this location, many passers-by were caught by the image of our life-like fetal models.

Pro-abortion Death Bill goes through…

Category : Legal, News

I’m sorry to confirm the news, but yes, the pro-abortion Senate healthcare bill was passed in congress today by a vote of 219 to 212.

If any of you watched C-SPAN as I did all Sunday, you would have seen an outrageous riot on TV between both sides of the debate.  Of all things I could have likened to this event, Roe v. Wade came to mind…  January 22nd 1973, the day murder of innocent unborn children was legalized nation-wide. I wonder what Americans my age and older must have felt?  This historical case was an abuse of power, just as today’s ruling was.  Abortion throughout all 9 months of pregnancy was legalized by 7 un-elected Supreme Court judges.  Watch this movie below to visualize the significance.

40 Days for Life kick-off!

Category : General Pro-Life

Today begins the 40 Days for Life campaign!

Come to the Kick-Off prayer vigil tonight at 7PM in front of the AMS of Pensacola!

Bring a flash light and a spirit of love.  The president has made some arroz con habichuelas- so feel free to celebrate the beginning of this powerful prayer campaign to end abortion!

40 Days for Life recap:

This is a very powerful 40 day-long event in which people of all faiths pray for an end to abortion, and specifically for the closing of Pensacola’s last-standing abortion clinic: AMS Pensacola.  Last year, we focused our prayers and peaceful pro-life presence in front of the “Health Center” abortion clinic on 9th Avenue.  The day immediately after 40 Days for Life had ended, the abortion clinic was FORCED TO CLOSE ITS DOORS!!! God works in mysterious ways – and it was by no coincidence that this abortion clinic had been finally caught for having an unlicensed clinic lab for over 413 days! God does work miracles, and if we want abortion to be unwanted, unthinkable, and illegal – we need to actively pray for this to happen.

Hey everyone!

Belated Christmas wishes in February

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break!  Yes, I do say “Christmas break” rather than “winter break” because that is the reason for the break; the reason why we have always had our school semesters designed to break around the month of December.  During this time, we acknowledge if not praise the powerful and historical story of a baby born of one simple young woman.  A woman who encountered very difficult circumstances, but at the same time trusted in God’s providence … and then gave birth to a King who would redeem all mankind.  This is the hope we bear as pro-life students: that each human life has infinite worth and potential!  Regardless of your faith background, I hope at least this hope-filled recount touched your heart during a wonderful several weeks off from school!

March for Life wrap-up

Following our break, UWF Students for Life made its first-ever trip to Washington D.C. to get a taste of the super large pro-life march.  This year, we had an estimated 400,000!!!  90% being young people – abortion holocaust SURVIVORS – taking a stand against the unjust ruling of Roe v. Wade and the other degrading rulings that mark our history!

We saw great numbers of college students, such as the group from Notre Dame numbering in the HUNDREDS.  We saw highschoolers, middleschoolers, kids, toddlers, babies, young parents, and even a couple older parents…  If anyone tells you that the March for Life is for senior citizens, they have not set foot NEAR the March for Life!

To find out more about our experience, come to our first UWF Students for Life meeting this February 24th (Wednesday) from 7PM-9PM in the Commons Room 225.

Also, don’t forget to check out our pictures from the March on our website!  We will definitely be going up to the March for Life next year, and with many more people.  Start saving up now and thinking about who else might like to go, and I will do my part to keep you posted about trip planning.

Upcoming Events:

  1. 40 Days for Life (February 17th-March 28)
  2. First meeting: February 24th, Wednesday 7-9PM Commons Rm 272
  3. Panhandle Run for Life opportunity March 27th

March for Life!

Category : Events

Hello everyone!  We’re gearing up for the March for Life in Washington D.C.  It’s hard to believe, but it’s less than 2 months away!

When: The plan is to leave in the early morning on Thursday, January 21st and return either Saturday the 23rd, or Sunday the 24th.

How: We’re looking at renting a charter bus to get everyone there.  Sleeping accommodations are still undecided, but we’re considering staying at a local church to lessen costs.

Cost: Early estimates are $100-$150 per person (not including meals).  This depends greatly on how many people will come and where we stay.  This price will go up if less people come or we stay at a pricey hotel.

If you’re interested in coming, please contact us.  We’ll keep you updated as we figure out the details.  We really hope everyone takes advantage of this opportunity to literally take a stand for life.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Today’s vigil a success!

Category : News

Just a quick note about this morning’s vigil/peaceful protest at the 9th Avenue abortion clinic.

We had 12 members of UWF Students for Life in all!

That’s a great turnout for our first vigil! Even though it was raining, cold, and really early (5:30am), our group was there to defend the defenseless.

It really makes a difference when college students take a stand. We are survivors of this holocaust. We are the next generation of mothers and fathers. We have the most powerful voice on this issue.

To see pictures from this morning, take a look at our gallery page.

Thanks so much to everyone who came. We will be doing this again soon!

Vigil this Friday!

Category : Events, Prayer

UWF Students for Life members and many others will be coming out to pray for the unborn babies this Friday.

Friday at 5:30AM is when abortions are done at the 9th Avenue abortion clinic. This is the time when prayers and presence are most needed. Just imagine: you could save a life. You could touch the heart of a mother and help her to see how much love that we have for her and her child; that she doesn’t have to go through with the abortion (as parents or boyfriend or others have most likely pressured her to do).

Come and step outside of your comfort zone to help the voiceless unborn. At the least, you can say that you were there on their behalf the day they were rejected and killed; that you, you did not forget him or her. This is one of the most powerful experiences I have had in my life; to be a hero and stand in honor and love for the poor unborn children who will be killed and thrown in the trash.

If you are a Christian, just think: If you could have lived during the time of Christ’s passion, where would you want to be? At home, or at the foot of the cross? Every human being is made in the image of God, so when human beings are rejected and unjustly treated, it is the same as doing it to Jesus.

You do not have to be a Christian to bear witness to the precious unborn or to hold up a sign that has “ALPHA center (Pregnancy Resource Center) 479-3616 We Can Help!” and perhaps make a profound impact on that mother to save the life of her baby.

I prayerfully urge you to consider coming out to pray and be a presence for the children and the mothers. We had twins saved this past Friday and hope all the babies will be saved this Friday.

We are trying to get 30-40 people out there this Friday. Please RSVP at the Facebook event page or by email. All questions welcome!

Great NEWS! Great OPPORTUNITY!

Category : Events, Stories

Greetings!

Great news everyone –  TWO babies were saved this morning!!!  Here is the story:  A young woman walked into the abortion clinic and then came back out crying.  She walked over to where the pro-lifers were and asked if she could borrow someone’s cell phone.  She said that she couldn’t go through with it and was calling her dad to pick her up.  She also was pregnant with twins!  This is wonderful news :D  I can’t express how uplifting and joyful it is to be out there and see all the sadness going on- but then to hear such joyful triumph of life over death.  A young woman chose life- she chose courage- and she will be greatly blessed for this.
