On “reducing abortions”…

Category : General Pro-Life

Why reduce abortions????    Why????

Today I heard someone advocating a “compromise” between pro-aborts and pro-lifers.  The idea is that both sides agree that abortion should be REDUCED.

Let’s apply this logic of “let’s agree that abortion should be REDUCED” to another topic, let’s say child abuse.

Would you say you are against child abuse?  If so, to what extent?  Do you believe there are some circumstances for which child abuse is justifiable – or perhaps are there some situations where it is at least understandable for an adult to abuse a child?

The resounding answer is NO.The politically correct answer is NO.The TRUTH is NO.

So, if abortion is the violent killing of a living human being, an act which goes beyond harming an individual – the taking of one unique individual’s life….  (If you doubt this definition, feel free to view an abortion by clicking here)

Would you then remain content upon reducing – not ending -  the violence of abortion?

If it was you scheduled this week to be violently killed – never given a chance to write the story of your life – never given a chance to dream or know the meaning of friendship – IF THE ABORTION WAS TO GET RID OF YOU – would YOU be content to allow even that one aborted child to be YOU?

If you or anyone you know is pregnant and needs help.  Please call this number: 1-800-395-HOPE (5433) Standing against the injustice of abortion does NOT equivocate standing against women tempted to abort or women who have aborted.  Rather all are embraced.  Both persons: mother and child, deserve the freedom to heal, hope, and receive help.  There are many who want to help – who do not judge you – who want freedom and joy for you –

GIVE HOPE A CHANCE.

Powerful short movie: Volition

Category : General Pro-Life

Volition: The act of making a choice.

What is wrong with being “Pro-Choice” – shouldn’t we be free to “make a choice?”  This movie is beautifully made and considers the question of “choice” in 21st century America.  What is the significance of volition in relation to the rights and dignity of other persons?

Pro-Life Freedom Ride/40 Days for Life Planning Meeting

Where: 900 West Garden Street Pensacola, FL 32502 (St. Stephen’s Community Hall)

When: 2:30PM Saturday (June 26)

Why: Because the unborn children have no one but you. Mother’s also depend on you to uphold their maternal dignity!

Remember the Freedom Rides of the Civil Rights movement?

For those of us who weren’t around then, “Freedom Rides” constituted a distinctive moment of resolve and unity. The Supreme Court, in its 1960 decision Boynton vs. Virginia, had outlawed segregation in bus terminals and restaurants serving interstate travelers. So the following spring, thirteen people – seven African-Americans and six whites – decided to travel by bus from Washington DC to New Orleans to test the enforcement of that Supreme Court decision.

Along the way, particularly in Alabama, they encountered opposition and violence from those who did not want desegregation. But having been brutally attacked, and some lying with wounds in hospital beds, the “Freedom Riders” vowed that the journey would continue. That’s when others joined in, and the first Freedom Ride became 60 rides across Southern states in the summer of 1961, with some 450 riders participating. And by the fall of that same year, the government issued orders for the enforcement of desegregation at the bus terminals.

Why do a Freedom Ride today?

The Civil Rights movement and the Pro-Life movement have the same heart and soul: a longing for equal justice for everyone, based on the inherent dignity of every human life. That’s why, when Dr. Alveda King first walked with me at the annual March for Life and I asked her, “Does this remind you of the marches in the civil rights movement?” she declared, “Fr. Frank, this is the civil rights movement!” Both movements are movements of freedom.

Freedom from the lies and the deceit that allow abortion to continue…
Freedom from the fear of speaking up and taking action for the unborn…
Freedom from the shame and guilt of past involvement in abortion, so that those called to speak up and share their testimonies may do so as people who are “Silent No More”…
Freedom from the political oppression that tramples on human rights and denies equality before the law…
Freedom from violence and death itself.

Find out all the many ways you can participate in “Pro-Life Freedom Ride 2010″ this SATURDAY at 2:30PM at the Community Hall of St. Stephen’s.

We need YOUR ideas and your help! Come join us, meet other pro-lifers in the area, and ultimately be a part of efforts to bring peace back to the womb!

Education makes abortion rare

Category : General Pro-Life, Legal, News

Please take 1 Minute out of your day to help save lives!

Sign the petition to encourage Governor Charlie Crist to vote YES on HB1143!

13 week old baby

When women see the picture truth of what is living inside them from an ultrasound image, most women choose NOT to abort.  On the other hand, when women go into an abortion clinic and are told “we are removing your pregnancy” or “it’s not a baby, just a blob of tissue” they more likely will abort believing the lie that their baby is not a real baby. (Proof for this claim can be found in the study below)

In order to abuse or kill someone, it is well known that you have to dehumanize it.  The Nazis did this when their Supreme Court defined Jewish people to be NON-PERSONS.  They were described as dirty vermin in various Nazi-era writings.  The same happened to the African Americans in the United States.  They were defined as NON-PERSONS too – and considered property!  Thankfully today these lies have been uprooted.

What if white slave-owners or Nazi soldiers were forced to see the humanity of their victims?  What if they were forced to see the parents and children hug each other and have family conversations?

Today, in Florida, we have the opportunity to help mothers to see the humanity of their unborn child through the use of ultrasound imaging!  This prevents mothers from being fooled by the unscientific, ridiculous lies abortion providers say about unborn children.

We need to urge our governor Charlie Crist to VOTE IN FAVOR OF BILL:  HB1143.

Study shows power of ultra-sound imaging to influence mothers to decide AGAINST abortion:

Dr. Eric J. Keroack, then medical director of five centers run by A Woman’s Concern in Massachusetts, studied the cases of 436 women considering abortion between October 2000 and April 2002 at a center in Revere and whose outcomes could be traced.

Of those who were considered “abortion-vulnerable” — that is, facing obstacles that they may feel incapable of or unwilling to handle but who had not yet decided to abort — 75.5 percent decided not to have an abortion after viewing the ultrasound of her unborn baby, while 24.5 percent went ahead with an abortion.

“We also observed that during the utilization of these technical advances, our clients frequently demonstrated bonding responses to their pregnancies as well,” Keroack wrote in a letter to colleagues about the study. “Our examinations were not performed with the intention of creating such responses; they were performed in a fashion consistent with accepted medical standards for diagnostic ultrasonography.”

Keroack, who later served briefly as director of the Office of Population Affairs in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, compared those figures to a similar study group from July 1998 to December 1999, before the center had an ultrasound machine.

The statistics were nearly reversed. Of the 344 “abortion-vulnerable” women whose cases were studied and whose outcomes could be determined, 61 percent decided after counseling at the Revere center to go ahead with an abortion, while 33.7 percent decided not to have an abortion.

Keroack’s study concluded: “The ability to decide one’s direction in an unplanned pregnancy is the foundational theory of the ‘pro-choice’ supporters. Allowing a patient to view her ultrasound examination implies respect for the dignity and autonomy of a patient, and her ability to participate wisely in her own plan of care.”

Safe Harbor Banquet with Pam Tebow

Category : General Pro-Life

Just want to remind you all that tonight is our

3rd Ambassador training night with Aaron Chatraw.

This training series is really an awesome opportunity to learn how to dialogue about a difficult yet crucially important topic: legalized abortion.  It can and should be done in a way that is loving, attractive, and intelligent.  Come to our training event to learn how!

Remember: If we stay silent, nothing will happen.  Silence always helps the enemy, never the victim.  Women will continue to choose abortion, uninformed of the risks to their health or even knowledge of what lives inside of them.

Same place, same time: Wednesday (tonight) 6PM Bldg 11 Rm 223 Refreshments provided.

Safe Harbor Banquet with Pam Tebow:

I think you’ll be excited to know that one of the pro-life movement’s amazing leaders came to our town, Pensacola, to give encouragement to a local pregnancy resource center, Safe Harbor, and share her own pro-life story! Here’s a video of Pam Tebow telling her story to Focus on the Family for the superbowl this year:

Because of limited seating availability, only our president was able to attend to represent our group.  In doing so, she was able to network with yet another local pregnancy resource center!

Pro-Life Ambassador Training 101: Wednesdays in April

Category : Events, General Pro-Life

  • Do you ever feel like you have the desire to share the pro-life message, but just don’t know how?

  • Are you afraid of getting into a heated discussion in which could end in misunderstanding or bad feelings instead of knowledge and growth?

For this reason UWF Students for Life is hosting Aaron Chatraw, Air Force pilot and Georgia Tech graduate, to give us a 4 week training program to help you to be a calm, conversational, inspirational pro-life ambassador! He has been trained with the well-respected and highly appraised pro-life group: Justice for All, and has  already had significant hands-on experience with engaging positive dialogue on this important issue.

Come learn how you can be a better advocate of the truth about human life. 50 million human lives, along with an additional 1 million per year, have been killed by abortion - can we afford to remain silent any longer?  There is a right way to respectfully discuss abortion and the facts of human life- come find out how!

Training Dates:

Wednesday April 7th 6PM

Wednesday April 14th 6PM

Wednesday April 21st 6PM

Wednesday April 28th 6PM

**Please email me by March 20th to order the handbook for pro-life apologetics that goes along with the pro-life training series.  It is not required, but is helpful to have as a reference and refresher.  The cost is $9.
